Here's a sampling of the Park treasures we've helped preserve — with many more to come.
George Matthews Harding Mural
The WCPA is raising $60,000 to restore this fantastic mural for the Park’s upcoming Visitors Center Museum.
Nature center pavilion Roof Replacement
The roof on this lovely pavilion was replaced, and the sheathing repaired, in the winter of 2022.
WCPA Trail Stewards
In 2021 the WCPA worked with Park staff to create the WCPA Trail Stewards. They meet monthly to clear and upgrade the Park’s beautiful trails. Click here to join us!
New Plantings
In the summer of 2021 our Conservation Committee worked with park staff to acquire and plant 95 plants from Bowman’s Wildflower Preserve.
Dead & Dying Tree Removal
The WCPA arranges for occasional tree removal when we are able. Sadly 2021’s tornado has created more work than we can handle and are currently seeking support. Click here to see a video of the damage.
Overlook Signage
In May of 2021 the WCPA arranged for the installation of new signage at the Park’s Overlook, with a grant from the New Jersey Historic Trust.
Highway Signage
In a small but important project, WCPA trustees worked tirelessly to have a directional sign placed on Route 295 at the Scudders Falls Bridge in the fall of 2021.
Johnson Ferry House Roof Replacement
In 2019 the WCPA replaced the cedar roof on this historic structure. The project was partially funded by a grant from the 1772 Foundation of the New Jersey Historic Trust.
NJAISA Work Day at Washington Crossing State Park
December 7, 2019 marked a priceless day of work donated by the NJAISA and their members. 100s of trees were pruned, and dead or dying trees removed. It was an incredible example of collaboration between our Park Association, State Officials, the NJAISA and the Garden Club of Trenton, and local volunteers and businesses.
Repainting and Restaining of The Johnson Ferry House
In 2016 the WCPA arranged for the restaining of this early 18th-century farmhouse and tavern, that was a proud witness to the historic crossing.
Nelson House Pollinator Garden
Our Conservation Committee created and maintains a pollinator garden near the historic Nelson House in the lower park.
Sullivan Grove Roof Renovation
In 2017 WCPA Trustee Bill Farkas underwrote the re-roofing of the Sullivan Grove Picnic Area Pavilion.
Kiosk Renovation
In 2017 the WCPA paid for the renovation of directional kiosks throughout the park.
Bat Houses
